I am a software developer and architect with more than 20 years experience. I also do web site graphic design. Thus I can offer complete end-to-end web site implementation, from graphics to back-end database development.

I'm based in Santa Cruz, California.

I've worked on web sites of all sizes, from three pages to hundreds of pages. For the smaller sites my aim is to create a clean and straightforward site that communicates the right message while staying within the typical small-business budget. Larger sites usually involve the selection and customization of software to run the site. Occasionally this calls for the development of one-of-a-kind, custom software, but this is unusual unless the site is one-of-a-kind as well.

One option is to implement the site using a content management system, such as Drupal. This can make it easier for a non-technical person to change some aspects of the site.

On the development side, I specialize in database design, object-relational mapping, performance tuning, and software tool development. These varied areas reflect the varied experience I've had over my career.

One thing I can do (which might be quite short-term) is problem-solving (e.g.,'why doesn't this work when it worked in the last release?'). In the past I've on occasion solved mysteries that stumped other people.

I am also available for risk-reduction consulting, in which I review your architecture, development plans, and software process to identify potential problem areas.
